Lung Damage in kids… from dirty cosmetics!

Ugh… It even disgusts me to type that. I have, personally, had both of my grandfathers lose their lives to lung cancer. They both smoked. This generation is smarter. We know the facts about cigarettes and, I would be lying if I said the judgmental side of me doesn’t come out, when I see someone light up. I miss my grandfathers. They were the very best, but both committed suicide one cigarette at a time and that breaks my heart.

Cosmetics = Cigarettes??

Not quite… but I cannot NOT pass this along. I am constantly educating myself on harmful ingredients: food and products. I came across an article from EWG that discussed a recent longitudinal study, conducted by a team of European scientists and they found that kids, exposed in utero and shortly after birth, to phthalates, parabens and PFAS, “had diminished lung function at 6 and 12 years old.” INSANE.

We have control over this, ya’ll… ALL THREE OF THOSE INGREDIENTS ARE FOUND IN BEAUTY PRODUCTS!

What are they?
Parabens: preservatives! Parabens have also been link to breast cancer.
Phthalates: fragrance! Phthalates are also hormone disruptors and linked to fertility issues.
PFAS: non-stick! Honestly, I couldn’t find anything about WHY it is used in cosmetics, other than it is most commonly used in anti-aging products and makeup. AKA: Teflon.

SO NOW YOU KNOW… What are we going to do?

There are alternatives! You do not have to put your health (or your kids health) at risk, in the name of beauty! BEAUTY SHOULD BE GOOD FOR YOU!
